4. Strictly Necessary Cookies — Why No Consent Is Required

Under Article 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive (2002/58/EC, as implemented in French law by Art. L34-5 of the Code des Postes et des Communications Électroniques), cookies that are strictly necessary for the technical operation of a service explicitly requested by the user do not require prior consent. The Cloudflare security cookies above fall within this exemption: they protect the site against attacks and contain no persistent personal identifier.

Since we currently deploy only strictly necessary cookies, a consent banner is not required. You may at any time:

Disable cookies in your browser: All modern browsers allow you to block or delete cookies via Settings. Note that blocking strictly necessary cookies may prevent the site from loading correctly.
Use browser privacy extensions: Tools such as uBlock Origin, Privacy Badger, or similar extensions can intercept cookies before they are set.
Cloudflare opt-out: Cloudflare operates at the network level; individual cookie opt-out is not possible, but their security cookies carry no persistent personal data.

6. What Happens If We Add Analytics?

If we introduce analytics cookies in the future, we commit to:

Updating this page at least 30 days before deployment
Displaying a clearly dismissible consent banner on first visit
Recording and timestamping consent
Preferring cookieless, privacy-preserving tools (e.g. Plausible Analytics) where possible
Never pre-ticking consent boxes
Making refusal as easy as acceptance
